I had the pleasure of attending a Q&A for his autobiography.
When a member of the audience asked a question and addressed him as "Sir Rodger", he quickly said "no, no, please just dial me Roger". For a guy that has done so much for so many to be so humble and decent to his fans has stayed with me ever since. They state never meet your heroes, however Roger was absolutely an exception to that.
While queuing to contain my book signed I was thinking of what I would say to him. Having grown up watching all of his Bond films over and over again, I was of course in awe of him, however, instead of just saying what a fan I was, I thought I'd be a minuscule selfish and ask for something. I said to him "sorry, but would you mind saying 'Bond, Jame Bond' for me". He finished signing the publication, looked up at me, paused and said the line in character. I was smiling from ear to ear and said "thank you, you've made my day".
Without a doubt, that has been the highlight of my Bond fandom that started when I was six years aged, and is a moment I will never forget. I will be forever
