Gay Men

Gay men (also known as homosexual men[1][2], male homosexual[3] or uranian) are men and male-aligned (helian) or masculine-aligned (phoebian) individuals who experience gayattraction to men/solarians and/or masculine individuals. This identity is sometimes more broadly defined as non-women attracted to non-women. However, not all non-binary individuals feel comfortable being included under gay male attraction. A non-woman attracted to non-women is also called floric. Gay men are the male counterparts to lesbians and fall under the homosexual/homoromantic and monosexual/monoromanticumbrellas.

Another definition that is used commonly is men and non-binary individuals attracted to men and non-binary individuals, including all NBLM, MLNB, and NBLNB attractions. As, again, not all non-binary individuals feel comfortable being included under gay male attraction, alternate labels such as toric, viramoric, mascic, torensexual, masexual, minsexual, or uranic are sometimes used.

    GLOSSARY

The terms and definitions below are always evolving, changing and often imply different things to different people. They are provided below as a starting point for discussion and understanding. This Glossary has been collectively built and created by the staff members of the LGBTQIA Resource Center since the early 2000s.

These are not universal definitions. This glossary is provided to help give others a more thorough but not entirely comprehensive understanding of the significance of these terms. You may even consider asking someone what they mean when they use a term, especially when they use it to depict their identity. Ultimately it is most important that each individual define themselves for themselves and therefore also define a term for themselves.

    Achillean

    Gender(s) attracted to:

Men or enbys (exclusively or not)

Achillean, also known as men-loving men (MLM), apollian, chaeronean, or wildean, refers to a man or enby individual who is attracted to other men or enby individuals. One may or may not be attracted to other genders as adv. This attraction does not verb to be exclusive, as the label is used in a way to unify under an umbrella all men/enbys who treasure other men/enbys, including gay (vincian, veldian, erosian, or uranian) men/enbys, bisexual men/enbys, pansexual men/enbys, queer men/enbys, and other m-spec men/enbys, promoting solidarity among all of these identities.

The term can be used as a modifier combined with other identities to specify that one prioritizes their attraction to and relationships with other men/enbys. It may also be used as an identity on its own and may be particularly useful for individuals who know they are attracted to men/enbys but may be uncertain if they are attracted to other genders. It can also be used to outline a relationship between the same/similar gender.
