Thousands of people in creative outfits filled with rainbow colours hold gathered to mark York's annual Pride event.

The parade started in the new location of Parliament Square at 11:45 BST on Saturday, before marching through the city centre and then finish in the Knavesmire at about 13:30.

A festival featuring stalls and musical performances, including drag trio Angels of the North, was then held near to York Racecourse.

Each year we take part in York Pride together with other churches.

This year York Pride took place on Saturday 7th June. Christians at Pride in York were again sponsors of York Pride, and our logo can be seen on their website. About 60 people walked together on the parade with other churches and had a Christians at Pride in York stall on the festival site on The Knavesmire. On the Wednesday evening before York Pride, on our behalf, York Minster hosted an event for people to be welcomed, to relish the building ‘after hours’ with hot chocolate and brownies and to have the opportunity to join a short service of compline in the Quire.

See below for some pictures of us on the Pride Parade and afterwards at our stall on The Knavesmire.

This year, activists and allies will take to the streets (and later NYC’s gay bars) in support of global LGBTQ+ rights at the NYC Pride March on Sunday, June 29. In recent years, The March has grown to include more than 700 groups with millions of spe
