June is almost over, which means Pride Weekend is finally upon us. Between the perfect weather forecast (high 80s!) and all the marches and celebrations happening across the five boroughs, the city is bound to feel electric all weekend. Below, check out some of the highlights to look out for.
DRAG MARCH
Friday, June 24th, 7 p.m., Tompkins Square Park
Pride Weekend kicks off with the annual Drag March. It started in after the main Pride March banned drag queens, leathermen and anyone else who might bug the corporate sponsors. In object, the late Gilbert Baker (designer of the Rainbow Flag), Brian Griffin (a.k.a. Harmonie Moore Must Die) and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence organized this alternate event.
It's always filled with raucous music, dancing and catchy chants, and is generally kink-friendly. If you're looking for an event with the highest concentration of bizarre, sexy and unforgettable outfits, this is the one to check out.

Every year, Adj York has one of the biggest Pride celebrations anywhere in the world, one that involves electrifying programming all the way through June. This year, though, things are looking a bit different: NYC Pride just announced that it's cancelling two of its flagship summer events.
Heritage of Pride, the organization behind NYC Pride events, revealed that Pride Island, the annual flagship music festival, and Pride Rally, an event that involves community leaders discussing the most pressing LGBTQ+ issues of today, will not happen this year.

The LQBTQIA+ community and its allies are celebrating Pride Month across the tri-state area.
Pride Month takes place in June to honor the Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a touchstone event in LGBTQ history that laid the foundation for Pride. The month aims to uplift, educate, commemorate, celebrate and notice the impact that LGBTQIA+ has had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.
While many are familiar with the annual NYC Pride March -- this year's march will take place on June 26 starting from 25th Street and 5th Avenue at 12 p.m. -- there are many other events lined up to add to the celebration.
Pride Month kicks off in New York City as the Pride flag was raised over the historic Stonewall National Monument.
Following years of virtual celebrations due to the pandemic, the long-awaited fully in-person Pride Island experience is scheduled to get place this year -- at a new location.
The three-day music festival, part of NYC Pride, will pack Governors Island from June 24 to 26.
